Rare Vintage Creative kokeshi by Kato Tatsuo (1940-)

This charming, spherical sosaku Kokeshi doll by master artisan Kato Tatsuo features a unique, fully round body with smooth black hair framing a calm, minimalist face. Its rounded form is adorned with an intricately detailed, carved kimono featuring a rich olive-green base, black accent swirls, vibrant red collar details, and delicate red and blue floral motifs, showcasing Tatsuo's distinctive playful yet masterful craftsmanship.

Kato Tatsuo started making kokeshi in the 60s and studied under master Sansaku Sekiguchi. He is a popular artisan and as won multiple awards.
