Rare Vintage Creative Kokeshi By Tsujita Ryozo (1923-)

this pair of Sosaku (creative) Kokeshi dolls by artisan Tsujita Ryozo features a beautiful minimalist design carved from smooth, light-colored wood. The pair consists of a taller and a shorter doll, both featuring an elongated, ovoid silhouette where the head and body are seamlessly integrated into a single form. They display serene facial expressions with closed, narrow eyes and small, red-painted lips. The natural grain of the wood is prominently showcased, complemented by delicate, flowing lines etched into the surface to represent their hair. The taller doll features a carved bow detail on its side, while the smaller doll is decorated with soft, hand-painted orange floral accents resembling plum blossoms, highlighting the subtle elegance characteristic of Ryozo's craft.
