"Hanasakura" (花桜) – The Cherry Blossom Child

This exquisite and unique creative Kokeshi doll is a masterpiece by the award-winning artisan Yuko Yamazaki. Named "Hanasakura" (花桜), meaning "Cherry Blossom Child," this doll encapsulates a beautiful poetic description shared by the artist herself: "Born from a cloud of cherry blossoms, she carries the gentle breath of spring. Though small in stature, she holds the beauty of a season—soft, radiant, and fleeting as falling petals."

The doll features an incredibly detailed and texture-rich design, where the vibrant pink cherry blossoms and delicate branches are finely carved into the wood using a pyrography (wood-burning) technique before being painted. Her serene, gently smiling face is framed by smooth, jet-black hair that flows all the way down her back. Adorning her hair and her light-blue kimono are lush clusters of sakura blooms accented with elegant gold-toned leaves, which add a radiant depth to the piece. Every angle reveals meticulous craftsmanship, from the cascading blossoms on her side and back to a beautifully carved floral accent resting right on top of her head.
