a vintage Japanese Sōsaku (creative) kokeshi doll crafted by the award-winning master artisan Inosuke Kobayashi. True to Kobayashi's distinct stylistic signature, this wooden doll features an elongated, gracefully contoured silhouette with a multi-tiered body that mimics a stylized kimono. The natural wood tones are beautifully preserved and accented with subtle, hand-painted geometric patterns in shades of red and black, alongside a darker patterned band around the waist. The head is topped with a distinct wooden hair bun, and the face portrays a minimal, highly serene expression with closed eyes and a gentle smile, exuding a sense of calmness and classical elegance.
Inosuke was born in 1931 in Gunma prefecture and won multiple awards in his career for his kokeshi dolls, He also won the Prime Minister award in 1979. His dolls are usually tall and elegant featuring natural wood colors combined with colorful kimonos.
