Rare vintage Sosaku kokeshi by Kaganuma Masayuki

This beautiful, vintage creative (Sosaku) kokeshi doll by the prominent artisan Kaganuma Masayuki features a slender, elegant wooden body carved with slightly defined shoulders. The doll has a calm, minimalist facial expression with closed eyes, a small red mouth, and finely etched hair lines. The natural grain of the wood gives the doll a warm, golden-brown hue, which is beautifully complemented by delicate, hand-painted floral details. The lower body is adorned with a branch of white and red plum blossoms (ume), detailed with fine pyrography (wood-burning) outlines, and finishes with a series of parallel horizontal rings carved around the base. Furthermore, the floral theme extends gracefully to her hair, where a vivid red blossom with green leaves is etched onto the side of her rounded head, enhancing her serene and timeless aesthetic.
