This is a beautiful vintage creative (Sosaku) Kokeshi doll from Gunma prefecture, crafted by the artisan Kisaku. The wooden doll features a distinctive, bob-style black hairstyle (okappa) with precise geometric cuts framing a serene, minimalist face with closed eyes and a small touch of red for the mouth. Her elegant kimono is intricately detailed using wood-burning (pyrography) techniques, showcasing a lovely combination of earthy tones, a textured golden-brown obi sash, and a rich reddish-brown base, perfectly embodying the graceful, modern aesthetic of post-war Japanese woodcraft.
