Vintage Sosaku kokeshi by Hogetsu Maruyama

This creative (Sosaku) kokeshi doll by master artisan Hogetsu Maruyama features a slender, elegant natural-wood body topped with a spherical head and topped with a bright red hair ribbon. Her face displays serene, fine black lines for closed eyes, a delicate small mouth, and straight-cut fringe hair lines. The body is decorated with hand-painted red camellia (tsubaki) flowers and green leaves flowing gracefully down its length, highlighting the smooth grain of the wood and the artisan's signature delicate, minimalist aesthetic.
