Vintage Sosaku kokeshi by Kato Masami

This elegant vintage Sosaku (creative) kokeshi doll by master artisan Kato Masami (加藤正美) is titled "Hidamari" (日だまり), which translates to "Sunny Spot" or "Warmth of the Sun."

Crafted from rich, dark-toned wood that highlights the natural grain, the doll features a peaceful expression with gently closed eyes and a small touch of red lips. Its body is decorated with carved and painted plum blossom (ume) motifs in contrasting light wood tones. The piece comes with its original storage box, which bears the label displaying the title "Hidamari" along with the artist's signature.
