Vintage Sosaku kokeshi by Takeshi

This is a beautiful example of a vintage Japanese Kokeshi doll, specifically a "creative" (Sosaku) style rather than a traditional one. She is titled “Sōshun” what means “Early spring”.

Visual Description

• Structure: The doll features a multi-tiered, elongated body made of polished wood. It is composed of three distinct segments stacked vertically, tapering slightly toward the base.

• Head & Features: The head is oversized and spherical, showcasing a serene expression with delicate, hand-painted downward-sloping eyes and tiny lips. It is topped with a large wooden hair bun and a single bright red hair ornament (kanzashi) on the side.

• Artistry: The body is decorated with hand-painted floral motifs, including white plum blossoms and red flowers with green leaves.

• The Base: The doll stands on a small rectangular wooden plinth.
