Exclusive kokeshi by Hideo Ishihara (1925-1999) 

Title: Saotome

Meaning:

In the old days, rice planting women were called Saotome. Once a young daughter (Saotome) in Tanushi's family was assigned the task of taking seedlings from her nursery and planting 

Hideo Ishihara, is a well know Sosaku Kokeshi artist. He was born in Tokyo, and began his career by making Traditional Narugo dolls in 1957. he received more than 60 awards, including the most important off them all the Prime Minister’s Award.
