Rare cucumber kokeshi by Hiroe Fukushima

This charming wooden kokeshi doll by artist Hiroe Fukushima is meticulously crafted to resemble a fresh green cucumber. The figurine features an elongated, gently curved body painted in varying shades of muted olive and forest green, complete with darker vertical stripes that mimic the natural ridges of a vegetable. Carved seamlessly into the surface is a lighter, peach-toned face adorned with minimal yet expressive details: two simple black dots for eyes and a cheerful red curved smile. The outline of the facial area is accented with delicate dark stitching or wood-burned markings, giving it a handcrafted folk-art feel. A small wooden stem protrudes from one end, completing the playful and organic illusion of a garden-fresh cucumber.
