Vintage sosaku kokeshi by Kato Masami

Vintage Sosaku Kokeshi by Master Kato Masami. She is completely wrapped up against the cold, and wears a beautiful decorated green kimono. She has cracks in the bottom, see pictures.

She was born in Naruko in Miyagi Prefecture in 1925. Her husband, who was a traditional kokeshi master, taught her the art of making kokeshi. He has won numerous awards, including the most prestigious Prime Minister's Award.
