Elegant Sosaku kokeshi made by Fumio Tomidokoro (1948-)
Kokeshi doll created in the Creative (Sosaku) style. She is titled Hohoemi which means in Japanese " Smile ".
She wears a lovely Kimono with hand-carved and hand-painted plum blossom. In the Japanese tradition, the plum blossom is a much loved symbol: it represents rebirth and symbolizes strength, hope, tenacity and endurance.
Fumio Tomidokoro, Born in 1948 in the prefecture of Gunma (the place of origin of the Kokeshi ), during his career he has won numerous awards, including the " Prime Minister of Japan ".
