This is a unique handcrafted kokeshi doll by Japanese artist Yuko Yamazaki, titled 「深秋」(Shinshū), meaning “Deep Autumn.” The piece represents her going out dressed in autumn fashion, and the pattern on her kimono features traditional Japanese autumn motifs.

The doll is distinguished by its refined wooden form and intricate hand-painted details. It features a serene, minimalist face with closed eyes and a subtle smile, characteristic of Yamazaki’s gentle and contemplative style. The kimono is richly decorated with an elaborate patchwork design that blends geometric patterns with delicate floral elements, all reflecting the warm, deep colors of the season. Hues of brown, cream, green, red, and orange create a harmonious, traditional autumn aesthetic.

The layered patterns—ranging from bold triangular shapes to finely detailed blossoms—give the doll a textured, almost quilt-like appearance. The upper body is adorned with flowing, multicolored stripes reminiscent of a stylized obi. Throughout the piece, the craftsmanship highlights both the natural beauty of the wood and the precision of Yamazaki’s painting technique.

This kokeshi is not only a decorative object but also an expressive work of art, capturing Yamazaki’s unique approach to blending contemporary design with classic Japanese tradition—perfectly embodied in the theme of Deep Autumn.

This kokeshi was specialy made for the Tokyo Exhibition 2025, in the last picture you can see her att the Exhibition from Tokyo with price tagliatelle of 418.000Yen. She was also att the Sibukawa exhibition November 2025.
