Large Exclusive vintage Samurai kokeshi made by Sansaku Sekiguchi (1925-2018) 41cm!

Beautiful Kokeshi doll created in the Creative (Sosaku) style. This kokeshi represents a Haniwa warrior, and you will not often find them in green!!

 Sekiguchi Sansaku was born in 1925. He is perhaps the most renowned kokeshi master and the only artisan who has ever been certified by the Japanese government as “Master of Creative Kokeshi”. He has his own museum in his birth city of Shibukawa in Gunma prefecture and it’s being managed and maintained by his sons Toshio, Toa and daughter Izumi who are all kokeshi artists in their own right. He has won the prestigious prime minister award three times for his magnificent and unique kokeshi dolls.
