Rare vintage Sosaku kokeshi by Toa Sekiguchi (1942-)

This vintage creative kokeshi doll by award-winning master Toa Sekiguchi features a large, beautifully rounded head with finely engraved bobs and delicate, minimalist closed eyes that give her a serene and gentle expression. She is adorned in a warm, natural wood kimono intricately decorated with engraved and hand-painted red camellia (tsubaki) flowers, which beautifully contrast against the rich, natural grain of the wood.
