A pair of rare vintage “Calligraphy Brush” Kokeshi dolls by Shido Shozan, inspired by traditional Japanese fude brushes used in shodō (calligraphy). Crafted in Shozan’s signature minimalist style, the dolls feature elegant natural wood tones, subtle hand-painted faces, and brush-shaped silhouettes symbolizing the artistry and cultural heritage of Arima, a town renowned for its brush craftsmanship. Highly collectible examples of creative (sōsaku) Kokeshi art.

Shozan Shido was born in 1932 in Oita Prefecture, where he began creating Kokeshi in the 50s. His creative works were recognized with numerous awards such as the Prime Minister's Award.
