Rare Vintage Creative Kokeshi By Kishi Sadao (1932-1998) - Prime minister award wining doll in 1983!

She is dressed in a Michiyuki (traditional traveling coat) in translucent shades of brown that harmonize beautifully with the color of her hair. Her kimono is adorned with black wheat kernels set against a delicate background of chrysanthemums. These chrysanthemums are echoed in aqua on the front of her obi. The collar and folds of the kimono are only subtly suggested, adding to her understated elegance. Gracefully proportioned, this rare large doll celebrates the deep connection between nature and everyday life. The use of simply turned wood highlights the essence of the subject. This Kokeshi was awarded the Prime Minister's Prize in 1983 and was featured in the Creative KOKESHI Artistic Handicraft Directory.
