Rare vintage Sosaku kokeshi by Yuji Kawase (1925-) with original box

this creative (Sosaku) kokeshi doll titled "Wind" (Kaze) by Yuji Kawase is a beautiful example of minimalist Japanese woodworking. The doll is crafted from natural light-colored wood, showcasing its smooth grain and minimalist elegance. Its most distinctive feature is the unique, asymmetrical design of the head, which swoops out to one side to elegantly mimic hair blowing in the wind. The doll features a serene facial expression with closed, slender eyes and a small touch of red for the mouth, adding a delicate pop of color. The body is simple and cylindrical, decorated with a small textured, carved pattern near the shoulder, reinforcing the flowing, windy theme of the piece.
