This kokeshi by Aoki Ryoka depicts a soccer player with a ball at his feet and wearing a red soccer shirt.

Aoki Ryoka is an award-winning artisan, she began creating kokeshi dolls in 1985. Over the years she has received numerous prestigious honors, including the Minister of Education Award (2001), the Minister of International Trade and Industry Award, and the renowned Gunma Modern Kokeshi Competition. She has even been awarded the Prime Minister’s Prize twice.
