Rare vintage Daruma kokeshi by Kazuo Takamizawa (1927-)

This vintage wooden Daruma sōsaku (creative) kokeshi doll by award-winning master craftsman Kazuo Takamizawa showcases a bold and expressive design. Crafted from a single piece of natural wood into a rounded, compact cylindrical form, it features an intensely detailed, hand-painted face. The doll displays prominent, wide-open eyes with golden highlights, heavy black eyebrows knit in a fierce grimace, a stylized mustache, and a thick, flowing beard that cascades down the torso. The continuous black ink brushwork elegantly frames the sides of the face, complemented by minimalist, dark-brushed strokes that depict the traditional robes and arms.
