Rare vintage Sosaku kokeshi by Inosuke Kobayashi (1931-)

This is a charming traditional wooden kokeshi doll by Inosuke Kobayashi. It features a smooth, rounded body with a warm natural wood finish, delicately painted facial details, and fine black hair topped with a distinctive bun. Subtle carved plant motifs and a small red accent add elegance, giving the piece a calm and friendly expression.

Inosuke was born in 1931 in Gunma prefecture and won multiple awards in his career for his kokeshi dolls, He also won the Prime Minister award in 1979. His dolls are usually tall and elegant featuring natural wood colors combined with colorful kimonos.
