Rare vintage Sosaku kokeshi by Keiji Miyama

This Japanese Sosaku (creative) kokeshi doll by award-winning artisan Keiji Miyama (三山慶治) is titled "Sōkū" (蒼空, Blue Sky). Crafted from natural wood, the multi-tiered doll features a charming girl with bobbed hair, a tiny red topknot embellishment, and a gentle face. Her outfit is adorned with traditional geometric cross-hatch (kasuri) patterns in blue and red accented by black stripes. It comes with its original storage box (tomobako), which bears a label identifying the piece, its technique (Ryūmon-nuri / 龍紋塗), and the artist's seal along with references to his award-winning status at both the All-Japan and All-Gunma Kokeshi Competitions.
