Vintage Creative Kokeshi By Shido Shozan.

This is a very elegant lady, he played realy well with the body to give it a feminin shape. The obi is from lighter wood and is decorated with flowers, she also has a lovely hair pin.

Shozan Shido was born in 1932 in Oita Prefecture, where he began creating Kokeshi in the 50s. In the begin off is career he was a traditional kokeshi artisan and made Yamagata kokeshi. It was only after moving from Tokyo to Yonezawa that Shozan started making creative kokeshi. His creative works were recognized with numerous awards over the years such as the Prime Minister's Award.
