Exclusive one of a kind kokeshi by Yuko Yamazaki

This creative Japanese (sosaku) kokeshi doll by artist Yuko Yamazaki (山崎裕子) is titled "Kihachijo" (黄八丈), named after traditional yellow-checkered silk textiles from Hachijojima island. Crafted from wood with visible grain, the doll features a serene face with closed eyes, black bobbed hair with a decorated purple hairpiece, and a warm yellow-and-orange checked kimono adorned with delicate plum blossom (ume) motifs. On her back, a reddish obi sash is intricately carved with a geometric asanoha (hemp-leaf) pattern, and the piece comes with its original cardboard box bearing calligraphy of the title, artist signature, and her status as an award-winning artisan.

Yuko Yamazaki was born in 1956 in Tokyo, She was the apprentice of master Takashi Yoshida (1948-2007) She has clearly inherited his style, with her own experience and creativity she makes real masterpieces! Yuko already has a lot of awards behind her name!

Yuko also is a Instructor of the Creative Kokeshi Classroom and she is a Member of Japan Creative Kokeshi Craft Association.

2004 - The Minister of education award, in the National Modern kokeshi Exhibition (Harunoro).

2018 - The Governor of Gunma Prefecture award, All Japan Kokeshi contest 2018.
