Beautiful Kokeshi doll created in the Creative (Sosaku) style. She is titled "Suzumekko" , which in Japanese means, Sparrow Child. She has a simply design with engraved sparrows on the kimono.

 Sekiguchi Sansaku was born in 1925. He is perhaps the most renowned kokeshi master and the only artisan who has ever been certified by the Japanese government as “Master of Creative Kokeshi”. He has his own museum in his birth city of Shibukawa in Gunma prefecture and it’s being managed and maintained by his sons Toshio, Toa and daughter Izumi who are all kokeshi artists in their own right. He has won the prestigious prime minister award three times for his magnificent and unique kokeshi dolls.
