Rare Creative kokeshi made by Yuji Kawase (1918-2002)

This distinctive creative Kokeshi doll by artisan Yuji Kawase, features a wonderfully unique chestnut- or teardrop-shaped head that tapers to a gentle point at the top. The hair is painted with dark, combed lines forming short bangs and sideburns against the warm tone of the natural wood, complementing a peaceful expression with narrow closed eyes and a small red mouth. Her body is sculpted into two rounded sections finished in a deep black matte color, intricately decorated with natural wood-colored dragonfly (tombo) and leaf motifs, accented by a single green bow near the center.
