Rare Vintage Creative Kokeshi By Hiroe Fukushima

This kokeshi doll by Hiroe Fukushima features a simple, rounded wooden form with a large spherical head and a smooth cylindrical body. The natural wood grain is visible, decorated with delicate hand-painted details including small black eyes, a tiny red mouth, and colorful motifs such as stars, dots, and fine red lines. Its minimalist expression and playful, childlike drawings give the piece a charming and contemporary feel while maintaining traditional kokeshi simplicity.

Hiroe Fukushima was a Japanese sosaku kokeshi (creative wooden doll) maker active for a relatively short period in the 1970s (approximately 1970–1979).
