Vintage creative kokeshi by Hajime Miyashita (1940-)

This is a beautiful example of a creative (sosaku) kokeshi doll crafted by the prominent award-winning artisan Hajime Miyashita, The wooden doll features a sweet, serene expression with delicately painted closed eyes and small red lips. Her distinctive hairstyle includes a straight bob with a small, carved wooden bow accent sitting gracefully on top of her head. She is wearing a intricately layered kimono characterized by an overlapping collar, painted with elegant red and white chrysanthemum flowers and golden accents against the natural light wood grain.
