Vintage creative kokeshi by Hajime Miyashita (1940-)

This Creative Kokeshi doll, a multiple award-winning work by master artist Hajime Miyashita, is titled “Samui Asa” (Cold Morning). The hand-painted figure features a serene, closed-eyed expression, and is defined by a vivid crimson shawl that is tightly pulled and wrapped around her head and body to convey the feeling of a crisp, cold winter morning. The lower portion of the doll is decorated with elegant black and gold-accented geometric patterns, all meticulously applied to the natural wood form. The set is accompanied by its original box, which displays the prominent red title and the artist’s signature.
