Abe Shinya (1937- ), is the eldest son of Abe Tsunekichi. He began learning woodworking from his fathe. He started making kokeshi in the early 60s. However, he took a break from making kokeshi, moving to Tokyo for a while. When later he returned to Atsumi, he started again with is passion making kokeshi and wooden toys.
